Cult Iconography w/ Craig Drake

San Francisco-based illustrator Craig Drake brings a brilliant, innovative element of modernity to Patrick Nagel's 1980's aesthetic.

Among his illustrations of cult film classics are Princess Leia, Black Swan, Neo and a bevy of characters from Quentin Tarantino's films. Hero Complex Gallery! shares some of Drake's thoughts,

Like a lot of Star Wars fans, having grown up in the '80s, I was exposed to some amazing signature pop culture visuals.  Truthfully, [Nagel’s] style really annoyed me as a kid, but as time went on I began rediscovering his work -- his brilliantly minimalist yet bold vision of beautiful, strong women is what inspired me to illustrate Princess Leia."
